Mable Ring Dish

Marble has been having a huge moment these recent years! And for the marble freaks out there, nothing beats the happiness of receiving these cute marble dish made by oven-bake clay.

You will need:

  • oven bake clay in the colours of your choice
  • a knife or craft scalpel
  • a small bowl/ramekin that is oven safe
  • metallic gold acrylic paint
  • a rolling pin or glass jar
  • a large can or jar to trace around
  • oven bake glaze (optional)

Steps:

1. Roll your colours into snakes about 5 inches long.  Go easy on dark colours as they tend to be overpowering.
2. Twist together the smaller rolls into one big one.
3. Now roll this into a snake about twice its original length, twisting and twirling the ends in opposite directions. Fold it in half and twist the two ends together, then roll this into a long snake again. Repeat the process 2 – 3 times.
4. Squash the snake into a ball. You’ll want to see most colours on the ball’s surface.
5. Roll out the clay using a rolling pin or glass jar, playing around with different angles and directions (but don’t overwork it). This should make a marbled, multicoloured pattern.
6. Once the clay is 1/4 inch thick, it’s time to cut. With a round item about 6 inches wide, trace the shape using a knife or craft scalpel.
7. Place the circle in an oven safe bowl that is slightly smaller to create a dish shape. Bake the bowl according to manufacturer’s instructions and when the clay is completely cool, simply turn the bowl over and tap until the clay comes out.
8. For a luxe finish, paint the rim of the dish (or even the entire outside) with metallic gold acrylic paint. When that’s dry you can also make your dish glossy with a coat of oven bake glaze.

Letter Print Tote Bag

For your loved one who always carry their laptop around, or those who enjoy grocery shopping, a customise tote bag would make a perfect gift!

You will need:

  • canvas tote bag
  • iron-on transfer sheets
  • ribbon
  • sewing machine
  • tote bag saying printable (download – here)

Steps:

1. Cut ribbon to fit the length of handles, adding a half inch to each side. Tuck in the ends and pin the ribbon on the handles.
2. Sew the ribbon onto handles. I used a bright green thread to add a pop of color! If you do not have a sewing machine, you could try using strong fabric glue or thin steam a seam (for hemming).
3. Print and cut the saying on the iron-on transfer paper.
4. Iron the saying onto the bag (follow directions on the packaging).
5. Let it cool, then pull the top paper away to reveal your amazing bag!

Bath Bombs

For those who enjoy taking hot baths, you could make them some bath bombs according to the scents they love.

You will need:

  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of citric acid
  • 1/2 cup of Epsom salts
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 2 tablespoon of essential oil
  • 3 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Coloring Pigment (any color according to your preference)
  • A mixing bowl
  • A whisk
  • A small bowl
  • A bath bomb mold

Steps:

1. In a mixing bowl, pour in all the dry ingredients and mix them together evenly with your whisk or hand.

2. In a different container such as a small bowl, add all the liquid ingredients and mix them together.

3. Put a small amount of the liquid mixture to your dry ingredients and mix it thoroughly. You can define the ingredients are mixed thoroughly when the liquid has been absorbed by the dry ingredients. Continue adding small amounts of the liquid mixture until you’ve used it all. The reason to mix them in a small amount is if you add too much at once, the mixture will begin to fizz.

4. After you’ve mixed all the ingredients together, it is time to put them in the mold which you prefer. For me, I’ve used a sphere mold. You can picked other types such as a heart shaped if you’re planning to give it to your loved ones. When putting them in a mold, always put a little more that what your mold can hold on both sides. This is to make sure when the mixture are pressed together, they can be solid! After that, press them together until both sides clips together.

5. Once the mixture is pressed and clipped together, gently tap it with a spoon to loosen your bath bomb. Let your creation dry for 1-2 days and you’re all DONE!!!! Wasn’t it super fun and easy?

• acrylic craft paint
• 2 swivel hooks
• fabric glue
• needle and thread
• metallic leather or vinyl (optional)

Steps:

1. Measure out the desired length of your strap and add 2 inches.

2. On a work surface use tape to create a geometric design taking care to make sure tape is fully adhered to the webbing. We used the rounded side of a bone folder to smooth the edges on the tape to be sure our paint line were crisp.

3. Now the fun part, apply paint to webbing. Be sure paint is dry before attempting to remove tape.

4. Now that your strap is looking amazing, slide the ends through the swivel hook giving yourself about an inch of strapping on the reverse side and glue. Be sure to give the hook a little bit of space to move when gluing.
